BirdBox

About the Project

As part of a project to get parents, children and the local community more interested in their school website, and used to using it to gain information about the school Meltham C.E Primary School in Kirklees decided to purchase a birdbox and feeder camera kit. The camera was then linked up to a national project of birdcams to provide a constant live feed.

How can I use the resources in the classroom?

The classteacher and project leader, Carl Aspey has produced a number of downloadable resources, printable materials and online activities which can be used conjunction with their webcam, the other webcams in the SEGFL project, or as standalone activies.

You might like to ask children to use the flash activity to design a bird friendly garden in science or using the factsheets on birds create a presentation or report for English. It might be that you just want to encourage awe and wonder through showing chicks in their nest. However you decide to use it we would love to hear from you. Please email any comments, thoughts or ideas to contact(at)yhgfl.net
