The Conference linked the museums education room directly into the year 4’s class room in Grimsby. This was a follow up to a visit the children had with the museum earlier that month.

Taking part at the museum was Stephanie Hawk, the acting education outreach officer and two ex-miners, now guides at the museum, Bob White and Peter Craven.

The children prepared their questions in advance with their class teacher Miss Annabelle Stiff. Miss Stiff also put together a session plan for the VC.

• Start 1:30 pm

• Introduction from Stephanie

• Five children will take it in turns to ask a question each.

• Each of the five children have got three questions to ask.

• All of the class will be present throughout the video conference.

• After the question and answer session Miss Stiff will thank the miners and invite them to watch a question and answer activity the children have been using to reinforce learning about coal and mining.

• This will conclude the video conferencing session

• Concluding comments from Stephanie

The Mining Museum was assisted by staff from the YHGfL using their loan equipment. Staff from North East Lincolnshire Council assisted at the school.

Follows are the videos of the session. To speed up download times each clip is an individual question.
