The YHGfL Coal Project

Coal Mining Project

For over 200 hunderd years coal was "King". It was the source of power that warmed homes, drove railways and ocean liners and powered industry. Use these specially prepared digital resources to explore its triumphs and disasters. Find out the why, what and how of coal mining. Share the lives of those who worked the mines and those who lived in the mining villages and the great cities... share their stories.

The Video Conferencing Pathfinder teamed up with The National Coal Mining Museum of England to produce this footage of a lesson held to a class of children from Great Cotes School. The children got to ask two coal miners about life 'down the pit' and much more.
